Their supplier told them that only XYZ needed to be pulled, and barring any reason to distrust what they said initially, I can understand the decision not to pull everything at that time. Now that more has come out, and more needed to be recalled, I think that the proper solution would be to pull all of the products, and it appears that is what they've done.

In regards to the animal testing, note that the specific wording of the PETA was that Iams and Menu Foods did this, and that because of this, Nutro and the others on the list were to blame. Is it not possible that Nutro simply didn't know about this? I find it hard, especially after this whole fiasco, to believe that any company, Nutro included, would do business with Menu Foods, and the problems that Menu Foods has with PETA is only icing on the cake.

I know it's easy to make rush judgements and condemn, but a bit of reservation and condemnation without proper proof (Did Nutro say "Hey, test the products you'll be making for us in this manner so that we can fulfill our evil company reputation out" or was it more of "We're buying XYZ from Menu Foods and we didn't know they'd screw up this way") is the main thing that marginalizes the good that an organization like PETA does.

Just my own, humble opinion, as a human living in a two dog and two cat household.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939071900570762444.post-32763612248768337262007-04-11T08:15:00.000-06:002007-04-11T08:15:00.000-06:00What gets me about Nutro is that they claimed to b...What gets me about Nutro is that they claimed to be different than the big dog slop manufacturers. The fact that most of them get it from the same source shows there's is no point in paying a premium for Nutro. As if I needed a reminder, but here again it's all about brand image and positioning. A giant waste of time and money.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-939071900570762444.post-75584994134521975502007-04-11T04:21:00.000-06:002007-04-11T04:21:00.000-06:00It absolutely is about time. I think these companies need to take some responsibility here. If your food is made by Menu OR you got wheat gluten from ChemNutra you should know it and you should just pull the food regardless of what those companies are telling you. Pull the food and make sure it is safe before you sell it. Don't sit there waiting for someone to come tell you to pull it. Be proactive. So, I applaud Nutro's action now, although I would have applauded it even more had it happened sooner.cherbitraryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05741398824224770602noreply@blogger.com
